Where does it come from?

Basegrill’s collaborations with ranchers who persevere in breeding domestic animals that thrived on Greek land as long as 5,000 years ago are vital to its success. The output isn’t large, but the animals are bred free-range. Hence, the meat boasts a unique flavour and requires scrupulous and precise handling. We are proud to stay true to our principles: respect for nature, the cycle of life, the singularity of the country where we were born and chose to live.

The Greek pig

The Mediterranean black pig prospered until the 1950s, when it began to disappear, a victim of over-farming and the introduction of the pink variety, which as a result of genetic breeding, proved more durable and efficient to farm. Nonetheless, thanks to the persistence of a handful of devoted breeders, the black pig has begun to reappear in recent years. Tender black pork meat is delicious, with an unparalleled flavour and fat rich in omega-3.

Cows from our homeland!

In recent years, the kitchen has experimented with Greek Steppe beef from Katerini. Thinly sliced pieces are prepared tartare, thick steaks are grilled, while sausages made from Steppe beef melt in your mouth.

03

You simply must taste it!

We also decided to make black pig sausage, a treat that retains its pure nutritional value and delectability. Moreover, our menu features thinly sliced grilled black pork chops.

What do we drink at Basegrill?

The term «house wine» has acquired a zeal of its own. As a result, Basegrill has established a series of wines in collaboration with Yiannis Gkirlemis, a winemaker from Domokos. Since 2010, Basegrill has produced its own grapes and private label wine in an expanse of 1,700,000 square metres, 450,000 square metres of which is covered by vines.

A world of cheese

The cheese “vault” boasts approximately 35 maturing foreign cheeses from Italy, France, Spain, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, as well as over 20 varieties from Greece. Together they comprise a rich selection of cow, goat and sheep milk cheeses – both matured and fresh. The Basegrill cheese selection varies according to the season. Be sure to try them!

We are obsessed

Basegrill is the only meat tavern where one can see, smell and sample a wide variety of cheeses after lunch or dinner. Cheese enthusiasts can opt to enjoy only cheeses that are perfectly accompanied by wine.
